Planning

We are available to you throughout every step of the planning process and the lead up to your wedding. From emails to meetings, we are there to support you as your plans come together. We work closely with a number of fabulous local vendors, including caterers, florists, stylists, celebrants, hire firms, and transport firms, who we can recommend. The Ceremony

Waipuna has two picture-perfect locations for outdoor weddings.

Our lawn area, situated next to an orchard of fruit trees, has breathtaking views towards the Southern Alps, which are dusted with snow in the winter. This is a popular location for wedding ceremonies at Waipuna, and gives you the opportunity to add lots of your own personal touches to the set up. The undercover terrace is also the perfect space for a winter wedding, offering heating and lighting solutions while being outside and taking advantage of the breathtaking views from Waipuna.

Our covered terrace is surrounded by rustic gardens, and has sweeping views of Christchurch and the Canterbury Plains. It can be used for your ceremony in either fine or wet conditions.

Should the weather be on the chilly side, you and your guests will be comfortable and cosy, with our double-glazing, underfloor heating, a very effective heat pump, and a gas fire.

Capacity

Waipuna effortlessly lends itself to both larger and smaller weddings, providing a luxurious, intimate location for your ceremony and reception. With your choice of trestle or round tables, our function room hosts up to 85 guests for a seated meal.

We can also comfortably accommodate up to 120 guests for a cocktail party style wedding reception.

Our Space - Many Ways

Waipuna offers a highly versatile space for your wedding reception. For seated meals, choose between our round or trestle tables to set the scene for your reception.

Waipuna is also a fabulous setting for a more relaxed cocktail style wedding reception. Our furnishings are available to you if you wish to use or bring in your own furniture and style however you want.

Food and Catering

Food is a huge part of your wedding and it is essential the menu reflects your personality, style and budget. We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many of the talented and highly professional caterers in Canterbury. Many regularly deliver fabulous food at Waipuna’s weddings and events. We are more than happy to recommend some to you.

Waipuna has plenty of private space for caterers to work from onsite.

Photographs

With Waipuna set in stunning gardens and native bush, you never have to leave your guests to have your photographs taken. All the magic moments from your day can be captured in one location, with our grounds and views providing the perfect backdrop. Your guests can sip on a celebratory drink and relax in our magical setting, while your bridal party and family photographs are being taken.



Wedding Accommodation

Our four luxurious bedrooms are available for up to 10 guests, and can be booked for a reduced rate during your event. The exquisite Kowhai Room is a popular honeymoon suite.

You are also welcome to use the bedrooms for your bridal party preparations before the ceremony. Our wedding packages include the use of the accommodation
