To say we love winter weddings is an understatement! We ADORE them! And what’s not to love? Snow capped mountains provide a stunning backdrop, with our guests toasty and warm inside, enjoying beautiful food and wine.
Waipuna is perfect for winter nuptials with our under-cover terrace the ideal location for ceremonies in the cooler months. Outdoor gas heaters keep our couples and their guests cosy and comfortable as they take in the incredible vistas stretching as far as the eye can see.
Catherine and Glenn held their mid-June ceremony on the terrace, with guests seated on chairs to witness them exchange their vows. This lovely couple was blessed with a true Canterbury winter’s day with blue, clear skies and brisk winter sunshine.
Rather than enter the ceremony down the aisle in the traditional way, Catherine chose to walk along Waipuna’s garden path where her soon-to-be-husband welcomed her up the steps of the terrace. Their beautiful ceremony was officiated by celebrant, Jane Godfrey.
Photographer Martin Setunsky took lots of special images of Catherine and Glenn and their guests, and captured some spectacular shots of the couple in a dramatic landscape just up the road from Waipuna, against a stunning twilight sky.
Verve Real Food Catering prepared lots of tasty morsels which guests enjoyed before a delicious French Platter style dinner was served. The reception was finished off with delicious cake from The Cake Eating Company.
With underfloor heating, gas fires and a robust heat pump, Waipuna is well set up to provide the ultimate comfort at winter weddings. We can offer a number of indoor and outdoor ceremony options for wet weather, ensuring our couples are always able to exchange their vows with the incredible scenery as a backdrop.
